As we begin a new mission year, the Local Leaders of communities gathered for their annual meeting last July 15-18, 2024 at Maryridge Retreat and Renewal Center in Tagaytay City. The Chapter 2020 theme” Transformed by Love, Passionate for Mission” was carried on with sub-theme for the year: “Co-Shepherding Towards New Governance.”
A joyous celebration was held last April 28, 2024 as the community joined the sisters marking significant milestones in their religious vocations. Families, partners in mission and friends came to honor our Jubilarians and to join them in their thanksgiving to God for decades of commitment to the Good Shepherd as consecrated women.
“Transformed by Love, Passionate for Mission”: Province Teams Meeting 2024
My Good Shepherd vocation was clearly affirmed from the first time I entered the gate of our convent in Quezon City. As I walked through the calachuchi drive – peace, serenity and joy filled my whole being. “This is the place for me,” I told myself. The first sister I met was Sr. Felicitas. Her graciousness and spontaneity made me feel at ease and further strengthened my desire to embrace religious life in the Good shepherd Congregation.
Sr Mary Rose Ababao, is one of the first novices of the newly established Philippine Province. She celebrated her Diamond Jubilee of Profession last April 28, 2024. She is now retired from active ministry and now in a ministry of prayer and presence at the Maria Droste Wellness Center in Quezon City .
Home is becoming one’s commitment each day. Nobody says it is that easy, but the assurance of His grace makes life beautiful. Living community is like a diamond being chiseled everyday so its luster and light could shine. It is having the heart of God, accepting each person in their uniqueness and preciousness; till finally reaching our Real Home: God Himself!
Becoming a Good Shepherd Sister is a privilege and a responsibility. When I said “yes” to God, I just didn’t say “yes” I am not kidding, but I also say yes to His invitation to be healed, to become whole and to be loved and most of , I said “yes” to His invitation to share and to spread His love to those who are least loved.
