The Province Leadership Team (PLT) composed of Sr. Susan Montano, Sr. Arabella Balingao, Sr. Gemma Dinglasan, Sr. Teresita Figueroa and Sr. Ailyn Binco recently completed their visit to our apostolic and contemplative convents in the Bicol Region. In the spirit of synodality, the visit last February 16-23, 2025 was marked by conversations with the sisters and partners in mission (PiMs) based in Naga, Legazpi and Virac.
In sacred space conversations, the sisters shared with the PLT what they were grateful for, their personal challenges, longings and dreams. As a community, they then committed themselves to the fulfillment of their dream for the Province/Region. It was a meaningful and inspiring encounter.
PiMs of Naga and Legazpi whom the PLT met separately, also articulated what they were grateful for and their longings. They were able to honestly express their thoughts and feelings which revealed their love for and commitment to our ministries. The encounter gave them a sense of belonging to the Province and got connected with the restructuring process being undertaken. It drew out a greater commitment to the fulfillment of a One Bicol ministry as they looked forward to collaborating with the other convents and countries in a process of co-learning.
During the conversation with mission partners of our contemplative sisters in Virac, the participants shared their personal experiences of being life-givers to their families and to one another. They expressed how their role as contemplative mission partners allowed them to bring life and hope to those around them.
In oneness with the Church in this synodal journey as Pilgrims of Hope, the PLT met the bishops of the different dioceses in Bicol where we belong. The bishops visited were Most Rev. Rex Andrew Alarcon, the new archbishop of Caceres, Most Rev. Joel Baylon Bishop of Legazpi and Most Rev. Luisito Occiano, new Bishop of the Diocese of Virac, Catanduanes. The sisters took this opportunity to share with them the ongoing restructuring process being undertaken in our journey towards new governance.
