Dear friends, we mourn the passing of our beloved +Sr. Luz of the Holy Child Briones (Lucia Cabugsan Briones in baptism). Sister has entered eternal life after 47 years of being a contemplative sister of the Good Shepherd on December 10, 2024.
Sr Luz, who first thought of becoming a nun when she was six years old described her longing to give herself to God: “It was a deep desire which I remembered, colored my younger days, giving me courage, inspiration and initiative to study more and to bear the daily routine and struggles from day to day with patience.” On her life as a contemplative, she shared: “Even as a Contemplative Sister, God allowed me to meet people with broken hearts, men and women who are desperate in life and who need somebody who can assist them. I met these
people personally and listened to their painful and sad stories.” Seeing how they recovered from their struggles, she proclaimed: “How marvelous the ways of our Lord Jesus the Good Shepherd!’
We thank Sr Luz for her life of prayer and sacrifice offered especially for the women and children served by the congregation. Rest now in God’s eternal embrace dear sister!
