Our dear +Sr Maryanne Terrenal (Corazon Cariño Terrenal in baptism) has peacefully gone home to our Shepherd God this morning of October 4, Feast of St Francis of Assisi.
We are grateful to God for her 91 years of life, generously shared in the mission of the Good Shepherd: in our Bridget schools in Quezon City (formerly St Domitilla’s), in Batangas and in Buhi and in our shelters in Quezon City, Manila and Naga, serving the marginalized and vulnerable. Sister also served as a missionary to Korea for 22 years.
Sr Maryanne was missioned in Good Shepherd Baguio these last 3 years ministering through her presence and prayer. It was full circle for her as Baguio was also her first mission assignment back in 1962.
In her vocation story, Sr Maryanne shared how at a young age, she already committed herself to God. She wrote: “My second Grade teacher was a beautiful young lady with a boyfriend studying in the Philippine Military Academy. I just loved to watch them. But when I made my first Holy Communion at the age of seven, I distinctly remember telling Jesus, ‘But me, I won’t settle for a mere human being. I will become a nun.’ Jesus heard my childish prayer and carefully He sheltered me in the palm of His hand.” She was filled with gratitude to God for her vocation: “I thank God for my vocation, for having called me to share with Him the beautiful work of reconciling persons to their families, to society, to God and especially to themselves. Thank you, loving Shepherd, thank you!”
Thank you too sister… We love you and we will miss you dearly!
