“Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.”
Dear friends, join us in prayer as we commend to the Lord our dear +Sr Mary Celine Cajanding who passed on yesterday, February 1, 2024 at the Maria Droste Wellness Center in Quezon City.
Sr Celine was 52 years an apostolic Good Shepherd Sister. We thank God for the gift of her life and her fruitful years of ministering to women and the marginalized sector through our residential, pastoral and education ministry, most of which were spent in Mindanao. She also spent five years as missionary in Japan journeying with migrants.
Looking back at her experience in Kibawe, Bukidnon, she said “…I began my immersion with the people in the barrio. Immersion meant 8-10 kilometer walk to the barrio; another kilometer to the next house and another kilometer to the source of water. It also meant living with them, experiencing their lifestyle, listening to what they say, making our own their anxiety, their hopes and dreams of a better tomorrow for themselves and their children.”
In her last months marked by great physical pain, Sr Celine surely have united herself too with all those suffering in our world today.
Rest now in the arms our Good Shepherd dear Sr Celine. Thank you for your witness of commitment, steadfast faith in God’s mercy and zeal for the mission.
