With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear Sr. Mary Regina T. Kuizon, RGS (Regina Teodocio Kuizon of Morong, Rizal) this afternoon of June 26 at the Maria Droste Wellness Center, Good Shepherd Convent, in Quezon City. Sr Gina would have turned 61 this July 5.
We are grateful to God for the gift of Sr Gina’s life generously given in service to the Congregation, to the Church and country. We give her back to God after 30 years of consecrated life as a Religious of the Good Shepherd. As a young sister, Sr Gina had been missioned to St Bridget School in Buhi, Camarines Sur and in the Morning Glory Program of Caritas in Manila. She also served the Province as Vocation Directress from 1998-2002. She then went to the Generalate in Rome to serve as Congregational Communications Coordinator until 2009. Upon return to the country, she continued in communications ministry for the Philippine Province as Secretary. She was then elected as Province Leader and served from 2014-2020. It was during this term that she also became the Co-Chairperson of the AMRSP – Association of Major Religious Superiors in the Philippines (now CMSP) from 2016-2019.
After her term as Province Leader, Sr Gina was missioned to Maryridge Retreat and Renewal Center in Tagaytay City in 2020. With the community, they faced the challenge of reopening after the volcanic eruption and the pandemic. It was in the scenic and healing atmosphere of Maryridge that Sr Gina spent her last years and days enjoying gardening, preparing menu, doing sacristan duties and providing spiritual accompaniment to retreatants.
Thank you Sr Gina for your zealous witness of God’s compassion! We find it a little too soon, but it is God’s wisdom, ways and timing that we trust and surrender to, just the way you did. Rest now in the Heart of our Good Shepherd!
