When God Makes the Way
I was in Grade Four when I began to learn religious songs and attending Mass became part of my life. I was young then but I am deeply touched by the songs during the Holy Eucharist and the quiet atmosphere inside the church.

I have experienced inner joy and peace despite all the sufferings and struggles I have encountered. Community living is very demanding. But for the love Jesus, I have to die to myself and love the cross. I am grateful for my experiences that helped me grow emotionally and spiritually.
It is always difficult to put into words God’s personal call. It is a day-to-day response that has to be repeated over and over. What I am certain of is that God has brought me into the world for a purpose and the purpose is being unfolded each day.
I was attracted to the Good Shepherd Sisters because of their welcoming and joyful spirit, and their mission of compassion and reconciliation. When I learned that the sisters took care of orphans and young girls who came from broken families, I was inspired by their dedication and commitment.
I told my spiritual director of my attraction to take care of the girls and he advised me to try the convent life. I told one of the Sisters who in turn referred me to the one in charge of admission. I was accepted and from the moment I entered the door of the convent I never did turn back.
The journeying through all the years, with the laughter and the tears, were blessings I have gained that I carry till the end.
Thank you dear Shepherd God for bringing me to the fold. Together with Your beloved children where I was called and purified like gold!
I oftentimes visited my aunt at Loyola Heights and every time I passed through 1043 Aurora Blvd, I was filled with a sense of mystery and peace that something special is contained in that place not knowing that it was the Good Shepherd Convent.
While working for a company for four years, I remember about the children’s home in Sendai and decided to join the Good Shepherd in 1961. My meeting with the orphans after the war left a lasting impression on me.
