Vocation

Vocation

Our concern for a world, which is so much in need of the saving presence of Jesus, urges us to pray that he send labourers to the harvest. To encourage and promote vocations to our congregation we seek to make known our mission. We are aware that through the witness of our lives others can be drawn to answer the call of Jesus. We invite those who are interested in religious life and welcome them to our communities to experience how we live

    • To provide venues and opportunities of encounter that develop their sense of mission

    • Spiritual Development: To provide spiritual nourishment through: Spiritual direction sessions; Bible/Faith Sharing (Lectio Divina); SJE and SME Spirituality; and, Discernment process
    • Mission: To provide a one-month intensive program for those who are seriously discerning their sense of mission (as RGS or CJM or lay partners in mission)

    Stages of Formation

    ASPIRANCY/PRE-NOVITIATE

The candidate is helped to grow in her relationship with Jesus and in self-awareness. This time allows for gradual transition to religious life, mutual knowledge on the part of the congregation and the candidate and discernment of her potential to live our vocation. The candidate begins her novitiate when she has reached a level of maturity , which enables her to respond to God’s call with responsibility and freedom.

    NOVITIATE

The novitiate is the novice’s preparation for religious life. The novice directress guides and helps her to understand and to live the essentials of a life of consecration for mission. The novice seeks to deepen her love for Jesus and her understanding of his love for her. She meets him in the Gospel, in personal prayer, in the liturgy, in community , and in the spirit and tradition of the congregation. In him, she discovers the meaning of the evangelical counsels and zeal.

    TEMPORARY PROFESSION

During the time of temporary profession the sister is helped to deepen and realize her consecration within all aspects of her life. Theological studies provide a broad foundation for the continual development of her spiritual life. She receives professional training and has relevant local and international experience. She reflects on her experience in the light of the gospel and the constitutions. She gradually learns to unify the apostolic and contemplative dimensions of her vocation.

    CONTINUING FORMATION

Since our religious vocation is a call which is always actual, we seek to further our formation individually and as a community. It is particularly our vow of zeal that challenges us to an ever-renewed conversion to the gospel and to a readiness to learn and to change in response to new demands.
